Caracterización y cuantificación de lagunas con SIG para el desarrollo de una metodología de trabajo de reintegración cromática

Abstract

The present article intends to propose a work methodology for the chromatic reintegration of the losses of 14 canvases from the collection of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon (FBAUL). For the development of the work methodology, a characterization study of the losses has been carried out based on aspects such as their depth in the pictorial strata, their location and the properties of the pictorial film that surrounds them. In addition, a quantitative analysis of the losses has been carried out by applying a free Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software called QGIS®. Based on the data obtained through these analyzes and together with ethical questions on the treatment of the losses, a chromatic reintegration methodology has been developed for the 14 canvases, serving as a reference for other cases with similar characteristics.

Beatriz Doménech García, Universitat Politécnica de València (UPV)

Graduada en 2014 en Bellas Artes en la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), especializándose en conservación y restauración de pintura sobre caballete. En 2015 se graduó en un Máster de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales en la misma Universidad. Durante los últimos años, ha participado activamente en numerosos proyectos de conservación y restauración, como la restauración de la Capilla de la Comunión de la Iglesia de San Nicolás en Valencia. Actualmente, se encuentra realizando el Doctorado, inscrito en el programa de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales de la UPV. Sus investigaciones están centradas en la reintegración cromática de pintura de caballete, dando lugar a la publicación de artículos y ponencias relativos a dicha temática, así como a su participación en diferentes congresos y jornadas nacionales e internacionales, y su colaboración con instituciones como el Instituto Universitario de Restauración del Patrimonio de Valencia (IRP).

Diploma in Conservation and Restoration by the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar (2005) and a master´s degree in Painting Conservation by the Portuguese Catholic University (2010). The master research was about methodologies and techniques of retouching. PhD in Conservation of Paintings at the same university, in collaboration with the Centro de Investigação em Ciência e Tecnologia das Artes (CITAR) and the Instituto del Patrimonio Cultural de España (IPCE), Madrid. The doctoral research was about the criteria and methodologies which might help to enhance the quality of painting retouching. The projects are presented through publications, lectures, exhibitions and presentations. Teaching about conservation and restoration, especially chromatic retouching, since 2008. Since 2004 carrying out conservation and restoration works.
