Original proposal with low physical and environmental impact, for lightweight double layer coverings for archaeological sites, optimized through parametric software and life cycle analysis
Abstract
The coverage of archaeological sites at ground level has motivated, in the last century, the use of a multitude of systems with greater or lesser effectiveness in their protection potential. In this paper, the effectiveness of 21 existing covers in the Iberian Peninsula is assessed, analyzing them based on control parameters such as their own weight, envelope surface and environmental impact. Based on the conclusions drawn, and as an original proposal of this work, a configurable coverage system is developed, by means of a light structure, based on single-layer double-curvature meshes, compatible with a double-layer closed textile envelope. In each specific case, the final solution that best suits the site is obtained after a process of optimization of the design, based on parameters, which reduces the material to be used, the construction process and the environmental impact in each phase of the Life Cycle.
