11th Conference on Lasers in the Conservation of Artworks will be held in Cracow, Poland from 19th to 23rd September 2016
The conference will be preceded by a one-day workshop (19.09.2016) devoted to practical aspects of the use of lasers in conservation/restoration.
As in the previous meetings (the last three: 2009 Sibiu, Romania; 2011 London, UK and 2014 Sharjah, United Arab Emirates) the main goal of the conference is to bring together researchers, conservators and conservation scientists, companies, architects, decision-makers and experts in laser-based techniques for the conservation of cultural heritage to share their latest projects and experiences.
Conference topics (for a more detailed list see: http://www.lacona11.org) will include:
-Developments in laser removal of unwanted substances on culturally-important objects and monuments
-Coherent light-based methods for imaging, measurement, documentation, examination and monitoring of objects and structures
-Laser-based spectroscopic techniques for analysis and monitoring
-Case studies in which laser-based methods have been used for conservation-restoration, documentation or analysis.
-Other projects or programmes in which coherent light technologies have been applied to the preservation of cultural heritage.
500-words abstracts should be submitted to the conference office exclusively by e-mail: office@lacona11.org using the form available from: http://lacona11.org/abstract-submission/ before 1st March 2016. Abstracts, after peer review by the Permanent Scientific Committee will be published in a book that will be included in the conference pack for delegates at LACONA XI and available from the conference web site.
The Conference Proceedings will be prepared after the conference and will contain full, peer reviewed articles (the deadline for which is 30th September 2016). The volume will be sent to all registered participants and will also be available electronically under Open Access license and indexed by GOOGLE.PLAY (former GOOGLE.BOOKS).
